ABOUT THE ROLE
TACC Construction is hiring a licensed Welder to join our team. This union role covers heavy-duty welding, fabrication, and modification work on structural steel and pipe, across a range of positions (vertical, horizontal, flat, overhead). This is a hands-on trade role for someone who can work in shop or independently on a job site and hold quality under pressure.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Perform MIG and Stick (SMAW) welding on structural and pipe components
- Heavy-duty welding, fabrication, and modification of steel equipment
- Weld in all positions — vertical, horizontal, flat, and overhead
- Read and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- Fit, cut, grind, and prep material ahead of welding
- Inspect completed welds for quality, and correct as needed
- Follow all site safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Maintain welding equipment and report issues before they become rundown
WHAT YOU NEED
- Valid Certificate of Qualification as a Welder (Ontario)
- Proven experience with MIG and Stick welding
- Experience with heavy-duty welding, fabrication, and modifications
- Experience with both pipe and structural welding
- Comfortable welding in all positions, including overhead
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and welding specs
- Physically able to do the work — lifting, standing, working in awkward positions for extended periods
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license; DZ/AZ an asset.
NICE TO HAVE
- CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification or working knowledge of CSA W47.1 (structural steel welding qualification)
- TIG welding experience
- Experience with cutting/grinding tools, ironworkers, band saws
- Prior experience on civil construction or industrial sites
- Comfortable working alongside multiple trades on an active site
WHAT WE OFFER
- Union contract rate: $47.18
- Benefits: In accordance with union membership
- Shop Location is Weston Rd & Hwy 7 area, Woodbridge, Ontario
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 50 hours/week (10-hour days), with occasional evenings and weekends as required
Pay: $47.18 per hour
Expected hours: 50.0 per week
