Uptown Orthodontics | Saskatoon, SK
Most people in HR either enforce policy or manage feelings. Rarely both, and rarely well. We are not looking for either of those people.
We are looking for someone who can sit with a team member having a hard day and still hold the line on what needs to happen next. Someone who can lead a team of over 25 people with genuine compassion, without confusing kindness for a lack of standards. Someone who wants to build a career in HR and is looking for one place to grow in, not five job titles to collect along the way.
This is a key people-leadership role within our growing orthodontic practice, with a meaningful impact on our entire team, as well as the patients and families we serve.
What This Role Actually Looks Like
You will be the person our team comes to when something is wrong, when a schedule needs sorting out, when a new hire needs onboarding, or when a conversation needs to happen and nobody else wants to have it. You are comfortable with Saskatchewan Employment Standards and confident enough in that knowledge to give a real answer, not a maybe.
Our team is made up of more than 25 team members, most of them women, working in a fast paced clinical environment. You will lead with empathy first, but you will not disappear into it. When someone needs support, you give it. When someone needs a clear, firm answer, you give that too. Both are the job, not one or the other.
You will work closely with leadership on the people side of the business: culture, communication, day to day HR administration, and the conversations that keep a growing team functioning well under pressure.
Who We Are Looking For
A recent HR graduate (from a post secondary school) who is comfortable with Saskatchewan employment standards and labor relations, and confident enough to help navigate compliance and legal considerations without hesitation. Someone who wants to grow with the organization over years, not months. Someone flexible enough to read a room and firm enough to hold a boundary once it is set.
Someone who leads with compassion and empathy but does not mistake being liked for being effective. Someone comfortable being the calm, steady answer in a room of 25 plus team members, even on the days that are not calm at all.
Prior HR experience is an asset but not required. What matters more is sound judgment, genuine care for people, and the backbone to follow through.
This is a full-time role, and our peak operational times require on-site presence at the beginning and end of the day.
What We Offer
This is a full-time position with a professional, fast growing practice that takes its people seriously. There is real room to grow into a long-term HR career here, with mentorship from leadership along the way.
Compensation is competitive and reflects the importance of this role. Details discussed with qualified candidates.
