Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight shipments efficiently. The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling, tracking, and communicating with drivers, clients, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with transportation management systems, and a strong understanding of supply chain logistics. The Truck Dispatcher plays a vital role in maintaining smooth operations within our logistics team and supporting overall business success.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatch activities for freight shipments, ensuring optimal routing and scheduling
- Utilize transportation management systems such as SyteLine and AS400 to input data, track shipments, and generate reports
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and vendors via multi-line phone systems and phone etiquette to provide updates and resolve issues
- Manage shipping and receiving schedules to ensure timely loading and unloading of freight
- Enter data accurately into relevant systems, maintaining detailed records of shipments, delays, and incidents
- Analyze shipment data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within the supply chain
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to coordinate third-party logistics services as needed
- Monitor freight status throughout transit and troubleshoot any logistical challenges that arise
- Maintain organized documentation related to freight movements, shipping documents, and compliance requirements
Skills
- Proficiency with transportation management systems such as SyteLine, AS400, and other logistics software
- Strong understanding of supply chain operations and freight management processes
- Experience working with 3PL providers and shipping & receiving procedures
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy in typing and record keeping
- Analytical skills to assess shipment performance and identify process improvements
- Effective communication skills for clear interaction via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple shipments simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and tracking
