Job Summary
JouleGrid is seeking a Power Generation Specialist (Intermediate Electrical Engineer) to support power generation projects across North America, with a focus on electrical engineering design and Owner’s Engineer (OE) advisory services for thermal, hybrid, and distributed energy systems. This role contributes to projects from conceptual design through construction and commissioning, supporting power island equipment, high-voltage interconnections, and balance-of-plant systems.

What You’ll Contribute
- Deliver electrical engineering design and Owner’s Engineer (OE) support for thermal, hybrid, and distributed power generation projects from concept through commissioning
- Execute power system studies and electrical designs, including system modeling, protection coordination, specifications, calculations, and compliance with CEC, NEC, and utility standards
- Develop and review core electrical deliverables such as single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules, and technical reports
- Support procurement and vendor activities, including technical evaluations, purchase order reviews, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and QA/QC oversight
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, process, and project teams to integrate electrical requirements across full project scopes
- Provide field engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup, including troubleshooting and issue resolution
- Interface with clients, OEMs, EPCs, utilities, and internal stakeholders to support aligned execution and clear communication
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to JouleGrid’s technical standards, best practices, and continuous improvement
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada or eligibility for registration
- 5–8 years of experience in electrical engineering for power generation or large-scale industrial energy systems
- Strong knowledge of power island equipment, HV substations, distribution systems, and balance-of-plant (BOP) systems
- Demonstrated familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Proficiency with power system modeling and analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower
- Experience supporting procurement, vendor coordination, FATs, and construction activities
- Willingness to travel across Canada and the U.S. for site visits and project meetings
- Experience working in an Owner’s Engineer, consulting, EPC, or utility environment
- Background in greenfield and brownfield project development

Job Type: Freelance
Pay: $60.00-$110.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
