Mental Health Program Assistant
Reports To: Executive Director
Hours: 30 hours per week
Position Summary
The Mental Health Program Assistant role provides combined program and administrative support across three organizations. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position assists with member-focused social, recreational, housing, and wellness programming and provides confidential administrative and organizational support that fosters a recovery-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education; post-secondary education in social services, recreation, mental health, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant program support experience and/or administrative experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mental health setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).Internet applications and social media platforms.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position regularly
- Ability to work weekdays and flexible hours.
Desired Assets
- Experience in a mental health or recovery-oriented environment.
- Mental Health First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and/or ASIST training.
- Knowledge of mental health services, legislation, and community resources.
- Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning and delivery of social, recreational, meal preparation, and wellness programs.
- Assist with group activities, calendars, newsletters, and community events. Engage members in meaningful, recovery-oriented activities.
- Provide confidential administrative support, including data entry, filing, correspondence, and report preparation.
- Maintain program records, statistics, and supply inventories.
- Respond professionally to inquiries from members, tenants, staff, and community partners.
- Assist with basic financial record-keeping and facility/property-related administrative tasks.
- Foster a welcoming environment for members, volunteers, and students.

Pay: $17.89-$19.08 per hour
