Great Lakes Scenic Studios is currently hiring for a Draftsperson to join our talented crew. We are a one-stop fabrication shop. We specialize in theatrical sets, retail displays, trade shows, public art pieces and so much more. Job Overview:
As a Draftsperson at Great Lakes Scenic, you will play a pivotal role in translating creative concepts and design ideas into precise technical drawings and plans. Your attention to detail, drafting skills, and proficiency with industry-standard software will be essential in supporting our team in the execution of complex scenic projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare fabrication drawings for both welders and carpenters, insuring original design intent is maintained
- Complete documentation packages and final drawing sets
- Able to identify and report design related issues to Project Manager/Fabrication Lead
- Prepare material and weight estimates as required
- Able to working on multiple projects simultaneously with internal team members
- Provide detailed drafting support at all aspects of the process; including but not limited to, bidding, design, fabrication, and installation
- Strong proficiency in 2D CAD (AutoCAD or similar), with good understanding of drawing standards and formats
- An understanding of mechanical and machine drafting techniques with knowledge of Solidworks or Inventor an asset
- Knowledge of sculptural drafting with techniques and familiarity of Rhino or Z-Brush an asset
