Your Opportunity:
In collaboration with the pediatric Respirology and Pediatric Ambulatory clinic teams, the Pediatric Respirology Nurse provides nursing support to children and families seen in the Ambulatory clinics. The incumbent coordinates nursing care services such as patient assessment, planning care, assisting with clinic procedures, patient and family teaching, telephone follow up and health promotion. Provides nursing support and assistance to the children and families seen in the Respirology subspecialty clinic. Conducts appropriate nursing assessments and accurately documents findings in the patient’s record. Participate and run nurse led clinics supporting Pediatric Respirology patients and their families with disease management. Integrates assessment and works with the family to establish appropriate long and short-term goals to address identified patient/family needs.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). A minimum of three to five years recent pediatric experience in a variety of practice settings which has included the care and management of Children with acute and chronic pulmonary problems required. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated knowledge relating to the principles of teaching and learning of the child and his/her family. Experience with Connect Care and computer skills required. Telephone assessment skills and triage experience are required. Three to five years' experience in pediatric acute care and/or ambulatory pediatrics is required. Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. Must successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam with 90% or more which is done at the time of interview. PEARS or PALS are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
BScN. Additional education/courses relating to pediatric Respirology, transplant, CF, or ICU would be an asset. Current certification as an Asthma Educator is an asset.
