Position Summary
The Courier Driver – Night Shift (Edmonton) is responsible for the secure pickup and delivery of shipments during the evening shift. The shift runs from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. This role requires strong reliability, safe driving practices, and the ability to work independently while maintaining accurate delivery records and consistent communication with dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries during night shift hours
- Safely operate 1-ton and 5-ton trucks in accordance with all regulations and company policies
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation (proof of delivery, signatures/photos where required)
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding delays, exceptions, and route updates
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report safety or maintenance concerns immediately
- Handle packages securely and in accordance with company/client handling requirements
- Comply with all our policies, traffic laws, and site/location procedures
- Maintain a professional appearance and customer-focused communication at all times
Night Shift Expectations
- Punctual, dependable attendance and ability to work overnight consistently
- Comfortable driving in low-visibility conditions and winter weather as required
- Ability to manage time-sensitive deliveries with minimal supervision
- Willingness to adjust route assignments due to traffic, weather, or operational requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record
- Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience (required)
- Demonstrated experience driving 1-ton and 5-ton trucks (required)
- Ability to pass background screening (and client-required checks where applicable)
- Strong communication skills and professionalism
- Comfortable using a smartphone for navigation, dispatch communication, and delivery confirmations
- Ability to lift and move packages up to [50] lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Courier/delivery experience (especially overnight or time-sensitive service)
- Strong knowledge of Edmonton roads and industrial areas
- Winter driving experience and confidence operating at night
