The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated tradesperson to support the design, construction, and maintenance of physical infrastructure and ecological systems.
This role is ideal for individuals in construction, forestry, or related fields who want hands-on experience building real-world systems that integrate sustainability, land stewardship, and clean energy.
You will contribute directly to site development projects—from structural builds to ecological restoration—while working alongside interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
Clean Energy & Technical Systems
- Support installation and development of clean energy systems
- Support deployment of clean energy systems, including installation of solar panel structures and battery banks
Land Stewardship, Water Systems & Risk Mitigation
- Participate in forest restoration and sustainable land management
- Support drainage and water systems such as swales, culverts, and filtration zones
- Contribute to natural hazard mitigation including firebreaks, slope stabilization, and wind exposure reduction
- Maintain site infrastructure including sheds, fences, greenhouses, and trails
Tools, Safety & Collaboration
- Safely operate tools and equipment (grinders, saws, chainsaws, trenchers, etc.)
- Work collaboratively with engineers, students, natural builders, and ecologists
- Ensure all work meets environmental safety standards and supports FEC’s sustainability goals
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Age 15–30 inclusive at the start of employment
Required
- Experience with construction, landscaping, or outdoor labor
- Must have reliable access to a vehicle
- Strong work ethic and willingness to perform hands-on physical work
- Interest in sustainability, construction, land stewardship, or clean energy
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Commitment to safety and responsible tool use
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred / Assets
- Background or studies in environmental science, engineering, forestry, construction, or related fields
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Interest in regenerative design, permaculture, or natural building
- First aid or safety certifications
- Experience working on sustainability or land-based projects
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
