POSITION SUMMARY:
In the role of Manual Lathe Operator/ Roll finisher, you will be utilizing the manual lathe and associated equipment. The Manual Lathe Operator is responsible for reading and analyzing blueprints and engineering drawings to assess process needed to create the required product layouts. You will report to the Machining Supervisor. The position is for afternoon or weekend shift.
YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a manual lathe and other equipment including crane, band saws, drill press, grinders and hand tools.
- Produce product to specifications (tolerances, surface finish, trueness of part).
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
- Perform all work to organizational standards to ensure final product meets quality standards.
- Set up procedures and machining formulas (including knowledge of feeds, speeds and cutters).
- Perform basic equipment maintenance.
- Accurately record time to work orders.
- Perform all functions of the job safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work space.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
YOUR SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a production environment and/or with plastics is an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience with manual lathe is preferred.
- Experience with a crane, band saw, drill press and hand tools.
- Able to read a tape measure, pie tape and calipers.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to read and interpret blue prints, drawings and general work instructions.
- Able to lift 50 lbs. consistently throughout the day.
- Possesses manual dexterity, attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Able to self-motivate, prioritize and maintain productivity levels as specified.
- Displays adaptability, flexibility and a positive professional attitude.
Work Schedule:
Afternoon Shift - Monday to Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
