Overview
The Food and Nutrition Department at Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home is accepting applications for a Dietary Aide Casual/Permanent Position to become part of a dynamic team that ensures our residents are provided with nutritious and delicious meals.
Your will be accountable for ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling.
Good motor coordination and manual dexterity are required for various work routines such as preparing food items, serving trays, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning work area.
The successful applicant must demonstrate resident-focused care in terms of positive behavior and attitude.
You will be serving meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, patience, flexibility and adaptability are required in this role.
You will be assisting cooks in basic food preparation and washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room.
Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
Ensures Dietary and Public Health standards are maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for ensuring food is handled in a safe manner including proper storage and labeling
- Assist cook in basic food preparation
- Wash, clean and maintain the kitchen and dining room.
- Serve meals to residents in a professional and courteous manner following resident diet orders.
Qualifications and Education Requirement:
- Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
- Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
-Experience working in Long Term Care is an asset.
- Ability to read, understand and follow diet orders and work assignments.
- Available to work flexible hours including weekends.
-Excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are an asset.
-Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with residents and/or co-workers on a periodic basis where social sensitivity and effective interpersonal skills are necessary.
-Ability to set priorities, to organize work and to exercise judgment in establishing schedules or procedures to accomplish result needed.
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 4 hours.
-Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demands of the hob including but not limited to: standing, bending,squatting,twisting,reaching overhead,work in cold environment, climb to heights on step stool, lift 40lbs, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching forward, grasp, pinch, grip, work outside, work with hazardous chemicals, work in warm environments, vision clear, hearing good, smell sensitive, free of infectious disease.
