The Student Labourer works under the general supervision of the Foreman Grade 2 (Central Control) or the Supervisor of Building Operation Services and is responsible for the various outdoor duties and assignments, such as snow removal, litter control, assisting with special event set ups/take downs and general landscape/facility work on the property for various City owned properties.
Student Labourer positions will be required for the period of May through August with April 15th being the earliest start date and September 15th being the latest release date.
All applicants must be available to start work at short notice and intend on returning to school at the end of season.
As the Student Labourer you will:
- Performing Outdoor Property Maintenance.
- Assists with Setups/Takedowns for Special Events.
- Assists in Building Operations/Maintenance Work.
Your education and qualifications include:
- Grade VIII or equivalent. Will be returning to school in the Fall.
- Experience working with property maintenance tools (power brooms, leaf blowers, material spreaders, shovels, rakes, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with staff and members of the general public.
- Must be capable of following both oral and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to use both hand and power equipment used within this classification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to observe safety rules and regulations.
- Ability and willingness to learn additional skills necessary for this classification.
- Ability to review and understand Safe Work Procedures and attend training in the proper use of power equipment used within the classification.
- Valid Province of Manitoba 5th Class Driver’s License is desired.
