We are looking for an experienced licensed security professional to join our Outreach Services team at a shelter location in Bancroft Ontario. Role and Responsibilities:
- Establish relationships of trust with patrons from vulnerable communities
- Be an empathetic link to community based services
- Maintain a clean work environment including daily worksite cleaning responsibilities
- Document and collect information regarding vulnerable populations and their use of the service for statistical analysis
- Ensure the protection of people, assets and property on site
- Control access to the facility in accordance with rules and regulations
- Conduct preventive surveillance patrols according to established procedures
- Perform emergency response procedures
- Enforce the regulations in effect at our client's premises
- Write detailed daily activity reports and incident reports
- Adhere to uniform and other regulatory requirements
A successful candidate requires:
- A valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Experience working in a shelter, warming center, or in services related to homelessness, addiction, mental health
- A current standard first aid (level C) CPR/AED Certification
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven de-escalation, relational and negotiation skills
- A strong sense of situational awareness, attention-to-detail, and acute observational skills
- A reliable mode of transportation
An ideal candidate will have:
- Prior experience working with vulnerable populations in shelter environments
- A good sense of judgement and “think first” reaction to emergency situations
- Demonstrable experience in conflict resolution and issue management
- An ability to remain calm and observe and report details under pressure
- The ability to change and adapt quickly to ambiguity or ambiguous situations
- Volunteer experience with vulnerable populations or community services
Work Hours:
- Full Time (36-44 hrs / week)
- Part Time (24 – 36 hrs / week)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
