Please note this is NOT a camp position. Candidates must live in the area or be willing to commute.

Purpose
The Quality Control Technician performs a variety of duties associated with the testing of the different sand products being produced at the Opal facility. This position performs a variety of tests related to the sizing and material characteristics. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the safe and timely testing of sand to maintain the highest quality of sand product possible. The Quality Control Technician will receive daily direction from the Quality Control Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Lab Duties & Responsibilities
· Collect samples to meet API and ASTM standards from the plant, pit and piles
· Complete Sieve, color and proppant testing as per API and ASTM standards
· Complete testing with the Laser Diffraction machine on Silica Flour samples
· Complete data entry of test results and send to all appropriate parties
· Clean and maintain all lab equipment
· General housekeeping in the lab
· Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all issues or matters requiring his/her attention
· Work all assigned shifts from scheduled start time to scheduled end time
· Participate in all required Company meetings
· Other duties as assigned

· Participate as vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organizations which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
Education & Training:
· Possess a high school diploma or GED
· Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License
· Geotechnical technology diploma would be considered an asset
Experience:
· Previous field experience in mine driving would be considered an asset
· Previous experience in a construction setting working around heavy equipment would be considered an asset
