The Role
You'll own the structural design and engineering sign-off for our racking, mezzanine, platform, and industrial structure projects. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who wants ownership across the full project lifecycle from load calculations and drawing review through stamped, permit-ready deliverables while also lending technical credibility to our sales and proposal efforts.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural design, analysis, and load calculations for pallet racking systems, mezzanines, work platforms, and supporting steel structures
- Produce and review designs in AutoCAD and SolidWorks; provide P.Eng sealed documentation for permitting and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) submissions
- Support engineering sales — work alongside the sales team on technical proposals, customer-facing design discussions, and solution development to win and scope projects
- Conduct site assessments, seismic and load evaluations, and verify field conditions against design
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, CAD/drafting, and installation teams to ensure designs are constructible and on budget
- Review manufacturer specifications and ensure compliance with applicable codes (NBCC, OBC, RMI/ANSI MH16.1, AISC, CSA standards)
- Provide engineering guidance on decommissioning, relocations, and capacity upgrades of existing systems
What You Bring
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario required (additional provincial/U.S. PE licensure a strong asset)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 5+ years of structural design experience, with direct, hands-on experience in racking, automation, and mezzanine systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design and detailing
- Demonstrated proficiency in engineering sales translating technical solutions into winning proposals and communicating effectively with customers
- Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. building codes and rack design standards
- Strong project coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed across North America
Nice to Have
- Experience with multi-jurisdiction permitting across Canadian provinces and U.S. states
- Familiarity with conveyor and automation integration
- Experience managing or mentoring offshore/junior CAD and design staff
