Parkers Bodyshop is seeking an experienced Automotive Paint Prepper to join our growing team. We are a well-established, family-owned dealership and ICBC-accredited collision repair facility located in Penticton, BC.
We offer competitive compensation of $22.00–$28.00 per production hour, based on experience, qualifications, demonstrated ability, efficiency, and quality of work.
In addition to your production wages, Parkers contributes $1 to your RRSP for every eligible production hour you flag. The more you produce, the more the company contributes toward your retirement.

The successful candidate will work closely with our autobody painter and repair technicians to prepare vehicles and panels for refinishing. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles and individual panels for automotive refinishing
- Sand, feather-edge, scuff, and clean repaired and replacement panels
- Apply and sand primers, sealers, and other refinishing materials
- Block repaired areas to ensure surfaces are straight and properly prepared
- Mask vehicles, panels, openings, trim, and adjacent areas before refinishing
- Identify surface imperfections, pinholes, scratches, and preparation concerns
- Clean and degrease panels to prevent contamination
- Prepare blend panels and adjacent surfaces for refinishing
- Assist with removing and reinstalling minor trim and components when required
- Assist the painter with vehicle staging, booth preparation, and workflow
- Inspect prepared surfaces before vehicles enter the paint booth
- Perform denibbing, polishing, and minor paint correction when required
- Follow paint manufacturer procedures and industry best practices
- Accurately document completed work and flag eligible production hours
- Follow all workplace safety, environmental, and bodyshop procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized preparation area
- Properly clean and maintain tools, sanding equipment, and preparation materials
- Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality repair standards
Qualifications
- Previous automotive paint preparation or collision repair experience is preferred
- Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, blocking, and surface preparation procedures
- Understanding of automotive refinishing materials and processes
- Ability to identify surface defects and preparation concerns
- Ability to work efficiently in a production-based environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Motivated, organized, and self-disciplined
- Able to follow repair procedures and bodyshop processes precisely
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Punctual, reliable, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced collision repair environment
- Able to perform physical duties, including standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive sanding
- Must possess a valid driver’s licence
- Automotive Refinishing Prep Technician certification is an asset but not required
- Experience working in an ICBC-accredited collision repair facility is an asset

Actual earnings will depend on experience, individual production, eligible hours flagged, quality of work, and overall performance. The employer RRSP contribution is calculated at $1 per eligible production hour flagged.
