Little Mountain Learning Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled English educator to nurture confident, creative, and capable learners in our small-group after-school programs for students in Grades K–10. You'll work with the same students each week, helping them grow as writers, readers, and critical thinkers in a warm, structured learning environment.
About the Role
- Teach English Language Arts classes, including phonics, ESL, academic writing, and novel studies.
- Deliver engaging, level-appropriate lessons for both native speakers and ESL learners.
- Build lasting relationships with students and maintain open communication with families.
- Create an open and warm environment for the children.
- Collaborate with a team of experienced educators and curriculum developers.
- Current and past educators with curriculum development experience have gone on to contribute to curriculum writing for Little Mountain’s sister publishing company.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience with Grades 3–8 is required
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required
- TESOL or an Education-related degree is preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with early childhood (Grades K–2) or high school (Grades 9–10) is highly preferred
- Knowledge and experience in student assessment and evaluation
- Knowledge of pedagogical theories to aid in curriculum preparation, design, and delivery
- Excellent command of the English language, including rules of composition and grammar
- Strong presentation, research, instruction, reading, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Good organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Confidence with Canva design and Google Workspace
- Ability to create a fun, warm, and engaging learning environment
- Strong classroom management and enthusiastic communication skills
- A love of literature, language, and student-centred learning
- Experience teaching in-person, online, and hybrid classes is preferred

- Experienced in mentoring or supporting other teachers
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and self-directed
