The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Supervisor to lead laboratory operations and quality assurance initiatives supporting aggregate production in the Edmonton area.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a quality-focused leader who thrives in an industrial environment and enjoys balancing technical expertise with people leadership. The successful candidate will oversee laboratory operations, supervise a team of Quality Control Technicians, ensure compliance with quality standards, and work closely with operations to continually improve product consistency and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Be DoingLeadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of Quality Control Laboratory Technicians.
- Schedule, coordinate, and prioritize daily laboratory activities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and safety.
- Support employee development through coaching, performance management, and technical guidance.
Quality Assurance & Laboratory Operations
- Lead all quality control activities for sand, gravel, crushed stone, and aggregate products.
- Ensure products consistently meet customer specifications, internal quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee sampling, laboratory testing, inspections, and documentation.
- Review, analyze, and interpret laboratory test results.
- Identify quality trends, investigate deviations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and testing procedures.
Quality Management Systems
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and document control processes.
- Ensure laboratory readiness for internal and external audits.
- Support compliance with applicable industry standards and quality requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with operations, production, and leadership teams.
- Analyze quality data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Develop reporting standards and quality performance metrics.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement projects that improve consistency, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture throughout laboratory and production operations.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Promote safe work practices in laboratory and field environments.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a quality leader who combines strong technical knowledge with exceptional leadership abilities.
You bring:
- Experience supervising Quality Control or Laboratory teams.
- Experience within aggregates, mining, construction materials, asphalt, concrete, cement, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of aggregate testing methods and product specifications.
- Experience interpreting laboratory results and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience developing and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- High attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong understanding of aggregate properties and quality control principles.
- Experience working with QC databases, reporting systems, and laboratory documentation.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in industrial, mining, manufacturing, or aggregate environments.
- Ability to work both in a laboratory and outdoor production environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.

Pay: $105,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
