Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Italian Speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide exceptional care to our diverse client base. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Italian and possess a strong background in patient care, senior care, and home health services. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, medication management, and ensuring their comfort and safety in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner. Experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospice, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. The PSW will play a vital role in supporting clients' independence and quality of life within their homes or care facilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medications accurately according to care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment
- Support clients with mobility and transfer activities, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a trusting relationship
- Document care provided and communicate effectively with family members and healthcare teams in Italian and English as needed
Requirements
- Fluent in Italian with excellent communication skills in both written and spoken forms
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospice, or home care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient care procedures, medication administration, dementia care, senior care, and disability support
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility needs
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach to client well-being
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia is advantageous
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days or evenings as required
- Valid certification as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory depending on local regulations
