Staff Accountant – Public Practice
PAG Financial CPA is a growing Chartered Professional Accounting firm based in Oakville, Ontario, providing accounting, tax, bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, and advisory services to entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses across a wide range of industries.
We're looking for a Staff Accountant with Canadian public accounting experience who is detail-oriented, client-focused, and eager to grow with our firm. This role offers exposure to bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, and advisory work while working closely with business owners and senior professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain client bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- Prepare monthly and year-end accounting files
- Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements and supporting working papers
- Prepare T1 Personal Income Tax Returns
- Prepare T2 Corporate Income Tax Returns
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns
- Assist with payroll processing, payroll remittances, and T4 preparation
- Communicate directly with clients to request information and answer accounting questions
- Respond to CRA correspondence and assist with tax-related matters
- Support partners and senior accountants on accounting, tax, and consulting engagements
- Ensure client files are completed accurately and within deadlines
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a Canadian CPA firm (Public Practice)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, financial analysis, and reporting)
- Experience using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- Experience with Profile Tax Software
- Comfortable working with cloud-based accounting systems and digital workflows
- Strong experience preparing T1 and T2 tax returns
- Experience preparing GST/HST returns
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting and tax principles
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines
