Peel Mutual Insurance is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable team player who thrives on keeping the day-to-day running smoothly. If you like variety, take ownership of the little (and not-so-little) things that keep an office moving, and enjoy being the person people can count on, this could be a great fit for you.
Your organizational skills and can-do attitude are what make you stand out. As an Administrative Assistant in our Underwriting department, your responsibilities include:
- Managing the printing of policy documents and troubleshooting print issues alongside our IT team;
- Coordinating with IT on new device setup and equipment needs for staff;
- Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail, and preparing and mailing claims cheques;
- Scheduling Canada Post pickups and arranging courier service for outgoing and time-sensitive mailings;
- Ordering and maintaining office supplies, and keeping the office kitchen clean, stocked, and organized;
- Providing backup coverage at reception, including greeting visitors and answering phones; and
- Supporting the Underwriting team with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and correspondence.
You're going to thrive if you:
- Take pride in keeping things organized and running behind the scenes, even when the tasks aren't glamorous.
- Are comfortable juggling several recurring responsibilities at once without losing track of details.
- Have a friendly, professional manner and don't mind stepping in at reception when needed.
- Handle confidential information — like claims cheques and mail — with care and discretion.
- Are reliable, punctual, and enjoy being the go-to person your team can count on.
- Like variety in your workday and don't need every task to look the same.
What you'll bring to the table:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education or a certificate in Office/Business Administration is an asset.
- 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, office support, or reception role; insurance or financial services experience is an asset.
- Comfort troubleshooting basic office equipment issues and working with IT support.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and a sharp eye for detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift/move supply boxes, mail bins, and courier packages.
What we offer:
- Competitive compensation.
- A part-time position to start, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role over time.
- A supportive, close-knit office environment.
- Potential opportunities for growth, skills development, and ongoing training.
