The Server Assistant is an integral part of our Front of House team, supporting servers and helping ensure a seamless and elevated dining experience for every guest.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires attention to detail, strong teamwork, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both guests and fellow team members. Server Assistants play an important role in maintaining the service standards and presentation expected at Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
Service Support
- Assist servers with the timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages
- Support water, bread, and other table service throughout the guest experience
- Clear plates, glassware, and cutlery efficiently between courses
- Reset and prepare tables according to restaurant standards
- Assist servers with maintaining smooth and efficient service during busy periods
- Monitor tables throughout service and ensure they remain clean, organized, and properly set
- Replace cutlery, glassware, napkins, and other items as required
- Maintain water levels and anticipate basic guest needs
- Ensure tables are fully prepared before guests are seated
Team Communication
- Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, supervisors, and the kitchen team
- Follow instructions from servers and management regarding service priorities
- Communicate food allergies, guest requests, or service concerns immediately to the appropriate team member
- Work proactively to identify where assistance is needed during service
Guest Experience
- Interact with guests in a warm, professional, and courteous manner
- Respond promptly to reasonable guest requests or communicate them to the appropriate server
- Anticipate guest needs and contribute to a polished and attentive dining experience
- Maintain professional appearance and behaviour at all times
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred but not required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Positive, proactive, and team-oriented attitude
- Ability to remain professional and composed during busy service periods
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods and safely carry plates, trays, and restaurant equipment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
