Position Overview
A well-established private post-secondary institution is seeking a qualified Medical Office Assistant (MOA) Instructor for its Victoria campus. This role is ideal for an experienced healthcare administrative professional who is passionate about teaching, mentorship, and preparing students for entry-level employment in medical office settings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering curriculum that reflects current industry practices while maintaining academic integrity, regulatory compliance, and a positive learning environment. Start Date: July 6, three days on site and two days online each week, 4pm to 8pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the Medical Office Assistant program courses using approved curriculum and lesson plans
- Prepare and present lectures, learning activities, assessments, and evaluations
- Support student learning through clear communication, feedback, and guidance
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
- Ensure instructional delivery meets provincial regulatory and quality standards
- Participate in curriculum maintenance and continuous improvement activities
- Collaborate with academic leadership and instructional colleagues as required
- Uphold professional classroom standards and a respectful learning environment
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of full-time occupational experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare administrative setting
OR
10 years of demonstrated experience in the field
- Credential (certificate, diploma, or degree) in Medical Office Administration, Health Information, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and classroom-management skills
- Professional demeanor and commitment to student success
Preferred Assets
- Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience (post-secondary preferred)
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical billing, scheduling, and patient interaction
- Experience working with diverse adult learners
- Knowledge of provincial private-training regulatory environments
