Summary
We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to join our team in Acheson, Alberta. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday, 10 hours a day. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient flow of incoming and outgoing materials, coordinating freight logistics, maintaining accurate records, and supporting project delivery schedules.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process all incoming and outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
- Receive and verify materials against shipping documentation, ensuring quantity and quality requirements are met.
- Enter and maintain receiving and shipping data within company systems.
- Schedule freight pickups and deliveries with carriers and transportation providers.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, production teams, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure materials are delivered on time and according to project requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of project schedules and shipping priorities.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with freight coordination and cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Prepare, process, and maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation.
- Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, damages, or delivery issues.
- Support inventory control and material tracking initiatives.
- Proven experience in shipping & receiving or warehouse coordination.
- Valid forklift license and experience operating forklifts and reach trucks.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and MRP software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Basic math skills for inventory counting and order processing.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to load/unload heavy materials safely.
- Prior experience in steel or construction materials is a plus.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in a shipping, receiving, logistics, or materials coordination role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation, freight, materials management, and logistics processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized inventory or ERP systems.
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Experience in structural steel fabrication, manufacturing, or construction is considered an asset.
Successful candidates will be required to pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing, as well as Physical Fitness to Work Mobility Testing as a condition of their employment. Reliable transportation to the facility is Acheson is also required, as there is limited public transit.
