Starboard Transport Inc. is urgently looking for a customs Coordinator to join our team in Woodbridge, ON.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate customs clearance for cross-border shipments between Canada and the United States.
- Prepare, review, and process customs documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, customs forms, and supporting documents.
- Work closely with customs brokers, carriers, drivers, shippers, and receivers to ensure shipments clear customs efficiently and on time.
- Monitor shipments and proactively address customs delays, holds, documentation issues, and discrepancies.
- Ensure all shipment information is accurate and complete before crossing the border.
- Communicate with CBSA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, customs brokers, and other regulatory parties when required.
- Track customs entries, releases, and shipment status and maintain accurate records.
- Verify classification, quantities, values, country of origin, and other information required for customs processing.
- Assist with resolving customs-related issues and provide documentation or information requested by customs authorities or brokers.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical records of customs documents and transactions.
- Coordinate with the dispatch and operations teams to ensure drivers have the required documentation before crossing the border.
- Stay informed about applicable customs procedures, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Perform other administrative and logistics duties as required.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in customs, freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or a related field.
- Previous experience with Canadian and U.S. cross-border shipments is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of CBSA and U.S. Customs procedures and documentation.
- Familiarity with customs brokerage processes and freight documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, drivers, brokers, and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience with transportation or customs management software is an asset.
- Bilingual communication skills (English/Punjabi/Hindi) are an asset.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
