Position Overview
The Lead Hand is a hands-on frontline leader responsible for supporting daily operations, coordinating work assignments, assisting team members, and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on time. This role works closely with the Branch Manager / Service Manager and may act as a backup when the manager is unavailable. This role operates with a moderate level of independence while adhering to company processes and standards.
What you will do
- Coordinate daily work activities and assign tasks to team members based on priorities, workload, and skill level.
- Diagnose, provide repair recommendations, and repair equipment
- Provide hands-on support to complete work orders, service tasks, production activities, or operational duties as required.
- Monitor workflow to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
- Act as the first point of contact for team questions, minor issues, and day-to-day troubleshooting.
- Support training, coaching, and mentoring new or less experienced technicians.
- Communicate job status, delays, safety concerns, staffing needs, and material shortages to the supervisor or manager.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with procedures.
- Ensure tools, equipment, parts, and materials are available, organized, and used properly.
- Assist with documentation, checklists, reports, time tracking, and other administrative requirements as needed.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead by example by using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Identify hazards, report unsafe conditions, and support corrective actions.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, inspections, and incident reporting when required.
- Ensure team members understand and follow safe operating procedures.
- Work is performed in a combination of office, warehouse, yard, field and shop environments with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment while balancing hands-on work and team coordination duties.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience as a lead hand or senior technician
- Strong knowledge of daily operational procedures, tools, equipment, and quality standards.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and adjust to changing demands.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions within the scope of the role.
- Ability to coach others and support a team-oriented workplace.
- Basic computer or paperwork skills for reports, work orders, inventory, or time records.
- Valid 421A license, certifications, or trade qualifications may be required depending on the department or work area.

Pay: $43.00-$48.00 per hour
