Job Summary
The Plant Superintendent is a key role responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. Tasks will include, but not be limited to, the supervision of shifts, general administration, health & safety, production and equipment optimization, emergency management and plant coordination.
The Plant Superintendent ensures the safe operation of all conversion machines while providing a high level of quality product with a minimum amount of scrap or waste.
This position is a Monday to Friday, dayshift position with some flexibility for evenings/weekend activities as required.
Responsibilities
- Production Management: Plan, direct, and evaluate daily plant operations to meet production schedules, volume targets, and customer delivery requirements. Define and communicate the responsibilities, expectations, and accountabilities to direct reports and other personnel.
- Equipment Management: Ensure minimal downtime on all equipment including CMDs, ROMs, Baggers, NGR, Forklifts and supporting equipment.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce occupational health and safety regulations, conduct regular safety audits, and maintain strict compliance with environmental and industry standards.
- Maintenance Coordination: Oversee preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime and ensure machinery operates at peak efficiency.
- Quality Control: Ensure quality checks are being performed and non-conforming product is investigated.
- Organization: Ensure plant is clean and organized using 5S methodology to optimize material flow; inventory support.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise plant personnel. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and accountability.
- Performance Management: Evaluates performance of supervision, providing regular feedback and coaching on objectives, performance, and improvements needed.
- Other Duties: Complete special projects, oversee the installation of machinery and miscellaneous assignments as required, and provide backup to the Plant Manager.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of production processes, machinery, and equipment utilized in manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement: Proven experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Leadership: Excellent decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a track record of managing and mentoring diverse teams.
- Compliance: Strong familiarity with safety policies, Occupational Health & Safety Art and ISO procedures.
- Communications: Establish and maintain effective communication with the management team.
Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
