This position is a CUPE 859 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.
Under supervision of the Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor (Carpenter Shop), this position performs various janitorial activities associated with the operation and maintenance of assigned buildings.
- Performs various janitorial activities associated with the operation and maintenance of all assigned buildings, including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, snow removal, salting & sanding walkways, emptying recycling, garbage and garbage receptacles, servicing washroom facilities and, as required, dusting and cleaning.
- Monitors usage of supplies and orders supplies as required.
- Completes routine pick up and deliveries, as required.
- Assists with various activities associated with the operation, maintenance and preservation of assigned buildings and facilities, including routine preventative maintenance activities.
- Operates a forklift and other equipment as required.
- Assists with the set up and take down of various meeting and training rooms as required.
- Maintains daily work activity records for the Work Management System.
- Provides customer-oriented service to all Support Services clients.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Grade 12 education.
- Two years’ experience in a variety of Roadways, Fleet & Support activities.
- Successful completion of a recognized ATV / UTV safety training program.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid recognized first aid certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to follow all applicable procedures and policies.
- Knowledge of the City’s safety policies.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to organize and perform work in an expedient manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned tasks.
Weekly Hours: 40
Salary Range: $27.73 CAD per hour (2026 rates)
