The Vancouver College of Massage Therapy is looking for part-time Teaching Assistants to join the faculty of our leading massage therapy college at our Surrey and Vancouver campuses.
JOB DESCRIPTION
VCMT's Teaching Assistants provide educational support to students, and organizational and instructional support to Senior Instructors. Responsibilities include:
- Support in-class student learning by assisting with demonstrations, answering student questions and correcting student treatment skills.
- Assist the Senior Instructor prepare materials for class.
- Take attendance, collect assignments, invigilate written exams.
- Conduct Oral Practical exams.
- Suggest updates and improvements of course materials to Senior Instructor.
- Identify students who require educational support, and communicate to Senior Instructor.
- Maintain high standards of knowledge of course curricula.
- Create an environment conducive to purposeful learning and positive interaction, one that fosters a positive and engaging learning environments that promotes respect for the diversity of learners.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
- Model a high standard of professional behaviour; conduct yourself in a manner that is friendly, ethical, cooperative, professional and collegial.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, peers, support staff, students and the community at large.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with CCHPBC.
- Stong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate massage techniques and provide constructive student feedback.
