Site Lead – Residential ConstructionJob Overview
NorthPeak Homes is seeking an experienced Site Lead to oversee the daily activities of our residential construction crews across Kingston and the surrounding area.
This is a hands-on field leadership position. The Site Lead will move between active residential projects as required, directing NorthPeak’s internal crews, inspecting completed work, anticipating upcoming site needs, and reporting progress to head office.
As our internal crews primarily complete finishing work, strong finish carpentry experience is preferred. The successful candidate must understand the attention to detail, organization, and quality control required during the finishing stages of a residential project.
This position may be particularly well suited to someone who has previously owned or operated a small construction, renovation, finish carpentry, or contracting business and would like to apply that experience in a stable leadership role without the responsibilities of running a company.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the daily work of NorthPeak employees across assigned job sites.
- Ensure crew members understand their assigned duties and daily priorities.
- Keep employees focused, productive, and accountable throughout the workday.
- Work alongside the crew as required while maintaining responsibility for daily coordination, productivity, and quality control.
- Inspect completed work, identify deficiencies, and ensure finishing work meets NorthPeak’s quality standards.
- Review upcoming work and provide head office with material, equipment, and supply requirements sufficiently in advance to prevent avoidable delays.
- Confirm that the required materials, tools, and equipment are available before scheduled work begins.
- Identify delays, deficiencies, site issues, or scheduling concerns and promptly communicate them to head office.
- Provide regular updates covering completed work, current site status, upcoming requirements, and matters requiring attention.
- Coordinate day-to-day site activities with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors when required.
- Maintain organized, professional, and safe job sites.
- Complete basic site documentation, progress reports, photographs, and time records as required.
Qualifications
- Significant hands-on experience in residential construction, renovation, or general contracting.
- Strong finish carpentry experience is preferred.
- Previous experience leading construction employees, subcontractors, or small crews.
- Experience owning or operating a construction-related business is considered a strong asset.
- Broad understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct deficiencies.
- Ability to anticipate upcoming labour, material, equipment, and site requirements.
- Confidence assigning work, establishing priorities, and holding employees accountable.
- Organized, dependable, and capable of working independently without constant direction.
- Clear and professional communication with field staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and head office.
- Comfortable using a smartphone to provide progress updates, photographs, and basic reports.
- Ability to read and understand residential drawings and construction documents.
- Working knowledge of construction safety requirements.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
Role Scope
The Site Lead is responsible for the daily organization, productivity, workmanship, and coordination of NorthPeak’s internal field crews. Project budgets, client contracts, major purchasing approvals, and overall business decisions remain the responsibility of head office.
We are looking for someone who knows residential construction, takes pride in high-quality finishing work, can confidently lead a crew, and is comfortable holding employees accountable. The right person will recognize what needs to happen next, communicate requirements before they become urgent, and help keep our projects moving forward.
