Laser Operator - Mazak
Location: Oldcastle, ON
Pay: $19.00-$26.00 per hour
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime

Our client, an established custom metal fabrication company in Oldcastle, is looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join its fabrication team.
This opportunity is best suited to someone with hands-on CNC laser experience who is comfortable setting up equipment, working from engineered drawings, performing quality inspections and troubleshooting issues directly on the shop floor.
Who This Role Is For
This opportunity is well suited to someone who:
- Has hands-on CNC laser operating and setup experience
- Ideally brings direct experience with Mazak laser machines
- Can confidently read and interpret engineered drawings and blueprints
- Is comfortable working independently once trained
- Understands quality inspection, measuring tools and fabrication tolerances
- Enjoys troubleshooting equipment and production issues rather than simply loading and unloading parts
What You'll Be Doing
- Set up, operate and perform general maintenance on Mazak laser machines
- Complete daily machine startup and shutdown procedures
- Navigate the machine's technical operating system
- Load and unload material and completed parts
- Set up, adjust and prepare equipment for individual jobs
- Read and correctly interpret blueprints and engineered drawings
- Retrieve and verify correct job files
- Select appropriate tooling, machine programs and operating settings
- Complete first-off inspections and ongoing production quality checks
- Verify material type, thickness, quantities, tolerances and forming requirements
- Troubleshoot quality issues, mechanical problems and machine error messages
- Complete basic machine and tooling maintenance
- Use tape measures, calipers and other measuring devices
- Use hand and power tools as required
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Cross-train and assist in other areas when required
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CNC laser operating experience
- 2 years of Mazak laser-machine experience strongly preferred
- Strong blueprint and print-reading ability
- Comfortable working with imperial measurements
- Experience using tape measures, calipers and other measuring devices
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and quality issues
- Ability to read and write English and accurately interpret work instructions
- Related college education is an asset
- Valid accredited forklift licence is an asset
Physical and Work Environment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lb without assistance
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Regular bending, twisting, lifting and repetitive movement
- Indoor, semi-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
- CSA-approved safety footwear required
- PPE required as appropriate
- Occasional Saturday overtime may be required
