Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Skid Steer Operator specialized in Backfill and Site Preparation to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating skid steers and other heavy equipment to efficiently perform site clearing, grading, and backfill tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of construction site operations, safety protocols, and equipment handling to ensure project progress and safety standards are maintained.
Duties
- Operate skid steers for backfilling, grading, and site preparation activities with precision and safety.
- Utilize additional heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, graders, and pavers as needed for various construction tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal functioning and report any mechanical issues.
- Assist with site layout, leveling, and excavation work to prepare for construction phases.
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment on-site.
- Coordinate with team members to execute project plans efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Support other construction activities including horizontal drilling and paving operations when required.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating skid steers in a construction or site prep environment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in operating dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and pavers is highly desirable.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials.
- Construction experience with a focus on site clearing, grading, backfilling, and earthmoving activities.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment brands such as Caterpillar is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to OSHA standards during all operations.
