Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Traffic Control Person to ensure the safety of construction sites and the smooth flow of traffic around active work zones. This role involves directing vehicles and pedestrians, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting construction operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for safety, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in dynamic outdoor environments. Prior experience in heavy equipment operation, paving, or construction is a plus but not required.
Duties
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction sites to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers in accordance with safety standards.
- Monitor site conditions continuously to identify potential hazards or unsafe behaviors.
- Communicate effectively with construction teams, drivers, and pedestrians to coordinate movements safely.
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment when necessary, following all safety guidelines.
- Support paving and other construction activities by providing traffic management solutions.
- Maintain clear documentation of daily activities and report any incidents or hazards to supervisors promptly.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in traffic control, heavy equipment operation, paving, or general construction is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to construction zones and traffic management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain alert in outdoor environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for long durations.
- Valid certifications related to traffic control or heavy equipment operation are a plus.
- Must be reliable, attentive to detail, and committed to maintaining a safe work environment.
Pay: $16.47-$31.12 per hour
