Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Dispatch Assistant to support daily transportation operations, with a strong focus on cross-border shipments between Canada and the United States. The ideal candidate will assist dispatchers, manage customs documentation, and ensure smooth and compliant movement of freight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist dispatchers in coordinating loads, routes, and driver schedules
- Prepare, review, and manage all cross-border shipping documents (e.g., commercial invoices, BOLs, ACE/ACI filings)
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. customs regulations
- Communicate with drivers, brokers, and customers regarding shipment status and documentation requirements
- Monitor shipments in transit and proactively address delays or issues
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, documentation, and communication logs
- Support dispatch team with administrative tasks and load updates
- Verify driver logs and ensure all required paperwork is complete and submitted on time
Requirements:
- Prior experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation industry preferred
- Knowledge of cross-border shipping procedures (Canada–U.S.) is required
- Familiarity with customs documentation and clearance processes
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dispatch/logistics software
- Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with freight brokers and customs brokers
- Understanding of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations
Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour
