Position Overview:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Cantec Fire Alarms Ltd. warehouse. This role ensures efficient management of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse organization to support both the Service and Projects divisions.
The Warehouse Manager maintains accurate stock levels of materials used by fire alarm technicians and ensures technicians have the required equipment available for upcoming work. This includes managing supplier relationships, maintaining target inventory levels, and coordinating shipments and deliveries.
In addition, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for servicing fire protection equipment including recharging dry chemical fire extinguishers and performing hydrostatic testing on high-pressure CO₂ cylinders. The role also oversees warehouse cleanliness, recycling management, and ensures materials and equipment are organized and readily accessible.
Warehouse Manager Key Responsibilities:
1. Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of commonly used fire alarm parts and service materials.
- Establish and manage target stock levels to ensure technicians are equipped for weekly service and installation work.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder materials as needed to prevent shortages.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of all regular suppliers and ordering processes.
- Coordinate with project managers and service staff to ensure materials are available for upcoming projects.
2. Shipping & Receiving
- Manage all incoming and outgoing shipments for the company.
- Receive, inspect, and verify all delivered materials against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Ensure all received items are properly labeled, logged, and stored in designated locations.
- Prepare shipments for technicians, projects, and supplier returns with vendors such as ACE and Purolator.
- Coordinate shipping logistics when required.
3. Fire Extinguisher Equipment Servicing
- Perform recharging of dry chemical fire extinguishers.
- Conduct hydrostatic testing on high-pressure CO₂ cylinders in accordance with applicable safety standards.
- Maintain required records related to extinguisher servicing and cylinder testing.
- Ensure hydrotesting and dry chemical recharge equipment are regularly serviced and calibrated when required by the AHJ.
4. Warehouse Organization & Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment at all times.
- Ensure materials, tools, and stock are properly stored and clearly labeled.
- Continuously improve warehouse layout and processes to maximize efficiency.
5. Recycling & Waste Management
- Manage the warehouse recycling area.
- Ensure technicians follow proper recycling procedures when returning materials.
- Ensure proper sorting and disposal of recyclable materials including:
- Scrap metal, Brass, Lead-acid batteries, Smoke alarms
Summary of Duties & Tasks:
- Receive and organize incoming shipments from suppliers.
- Track and maintain inventory counts.
- Order stock materials from approved suppliers and advise of any price changes.
- Prepare technician stock orders and materials for upcoming work.
- Label, shelve, and organize warehouse inventory.
- Perform extinguisher recharging and CO₂ cylinder hydrotesting.
- Maintain accurate hydrotest service records for fire protection equipment.
- Process returns or damaged items with suppliers.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
- Manage recycling materials and ensure proper disposal.
- Assist technicians with locating parts or materials when required.
- Identify inventory improvements or shortages before they impact operations.

- Flame Tamer Hydro-testing certification

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
