Job Overview
Trillium Machine & Tool is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our growing team. This position is focused on the electrical assembly, wiring, debugging, and commissioning of custom automated machinery built for customers across a variety of industries.
The successful candidate will assist in building new control panels, installing field wiring on custom machines, troubleshooting electrical systems, and supporting machine startup and runoff. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working on one-of-a-kind automation projects rather than repetitive production work.
Responsibilities
- Wire industrial control panels from electrical schematics.
- Install and terminate field wiring on custom automated machinery.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Debug and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues during machine assembly and startup.
- Assist Controls Engineers during machine commissioning and equipment runoff.
- Perform electrical modifications and retrofits on existing automated equipment.
- Install sensors, safety devices, servo systems, VFDs, HMIs, PLC I/O, motors, valves, and other industrial automation components.
- Verify proper machine operation and assist with final testing prior to shipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company quality expectations.
- Work closely with the mechanical assembly, controls, engineering, and project management teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
Qualifications
- Licensed Industrial Electrician (442A), Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A), Electrical Engineering Technologist, or equivalent industrial electrical experience.
- Experience wiring industrial control panels and automated machinery.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with industrial control systems, including:
- PLC I/O
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Servo systems
- HMIs
- Industrial sensors
- Safety relays and safety circuits
- Pneumatic valve wiring
- Experience troubleshooting electrical control systems.
- Familiarity with CSA and Ontario Electrical Code requirements is considered an asset.
- Comfortable using standard electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is considered an asset:
- Siemens PLCs and HMIs
- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Universal Robots, or Epson robots
- Cognex or Keyence vision systems
- Industrial networking (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, IO-Link)
- Machine commissioning and customer equipment installation
