We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Lead/Intermediate Accounting professional to oversee and manage the company's accounts payable. The ideal candidate will possess strong extensive knowledge of accounting software, and proficiency with various financial systems. This position is required to perform the full cycle accounting for various closing processes including journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, audit support and sales tax filing. The Intermediate Accountant assists the manager and AVP periodically for ad hoc reports.
Success of this position ensures the compliance with sales tax regulation and accurate journal entry with proper audit support prepared in the efficient manner to meet the financial periodic close
Key Responsibilities
- Team lead (Supervise) daily AP activities, including managing disbursement transactions, processing company’s T&E (Concur) Daily batch, coding invoices
- Support AP Clerk, including vendor problem resolution and daily AP operation
- Post the wire clearing
- Be the point of contact for sales tax related matters, including monthly filing, liaising with 3rd party sales tax consultants, organizing annual sales tax review
- Broker billing
- Prepare various monthly GL reconciliations.
- Prepare Statistics Canada information return
- Assist in preparing monthly system internal control test sample documents.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and upload.
- Assisting accounting manager and AVP for ad hoc reporting
Qualifications
- Proven experience in full-cycle accounting (2+ years work experience) and Accounts Payable department
- Experience with sales tax return filing.
- Strong working experience in Accounts Payable
- Strong working knowledge of SAP.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in excel (knowledge in Power query is a plus).
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Analytical thinker with an inquisitive mind.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter and team player.
- Willingness to learn new things.
- Must have common business sense
- Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills to prioritize the tasks to meet various reporting deadlines.
- Must be flexible and adaptable.
This is a 12months rolling contract. Benefits after 3 months medical/dental LTD/Life Insurance, 15 days vacation and 7 personal days.
