About VEI Contracting Inc.
VEI is a contracting company based out of Kitchener, ON, that specializes in construction dewatering and temporary groundwater control and treatment works, as well as remediation of contaminated sites.
We currently have a need for field technician role to specialize in the installation, operation, and maintenance of dewatering systems at Project Sites locally and across Canada.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review of site drawings to understand and implement system installations
- Support the new dewatering initiative with the operation and maintenance of equipment including skidsteers, forklifts, diesel and electric pumps, excavator-mounted drill rig
- Cut, assemble, install piping for dewatering, water treatment and vapour systems
- Assemble/disassemble components for systems (tanks, pumps, valves, media vessels, filter vessels, manifolds, mounting brackets, hosing)
- Complete physical tasks necessary for the installation of dewatering systems on active construction sites, such as carrying pipes and bentonite, shoveling sand, and engaging in other related physical activities
- Troubleshoot dewatering/treatment systems issues, and repair plumbing and equipment issues
- Assist with mobilization of equipment and chemicals (load, unload, prep components, operate material handling equipment, chemical inventory) at VEI shop in Kitchener
- Work at a variety of different Project sites including a mix of existing industrial buildings, new construction sites, utility installations, and mining sites
- Project sites may be located across Canada (accommodations and meal per diem will be provided when working remote)
- On-call rotation to respond to system operation alarms and alerts
- Work safely in accordance with VEI workplace health & safety procedures
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn practical skills through hands-on experience
- Technical diploma in the environmental field, or experience in drilling, plumbing, wastewater, or a related field
- Well Technician License is an asset
- Valid G driver’s license and insurable
- Willing and able to travel
- Training certificates (i.e., First Aid, Working at Heights, Forklift) are an asset
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with plumbing tools, piping methods
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
