We are currently hiring to fill a heavy-duty mechanic position to work underground at our project at the Cory potash mine (although a Journeyperson Automotive Technician may also be considered based on experience and qualifications). A strong preference will be given to Journeypersons - however, a highly self-motivated apprentice may also be considered.
Underground Heavy-Duty Mechanic
This position is responsible for general mechanic duties for our projects executed at potash operations throughout Saskatchewan. You will bring to HCC experience and competency in repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining heavy-duty mobile equipment used in underground mining applications. You will be required to work 12-hour day and/or night shifts.
Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of industry experience, ideally with exposure to underground mining
- Preferably hold trade certification as a Heavy Duty or Agricultural Mechanic
- Must be a team player willing to participate in company safety and production requirements
- Effective communication skills: must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, report progress or issues to supervision
- Have good judgment and ability to make decisions
- Responsible and dependable
- Ability to lift heavy loads repeatedly through an entire work shift
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Able to pass any pre-access screening, including a Drug and Alcohol test
- Valid Drivers License
- Must be physically fit and able to work in various mining locations
- Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, day and/or night, typically on 7 days on, 7 days off work schedule
- Previous welding experience, diesel tech experience, and/or hydraulics knowledge are considered strong assets.
