Human Resources Generalist – HR Department
Role Overview
Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the HR Generalist will play a key role in the HR department. The successful candidate will assist in driving human resources initiatives and administering programs/policies that will promote a positive high-performance culture. Responsibilities
- Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process for salaried and unionized positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and orientation.
- Support the delivery and continuous improvement of Human Resources programs, policies, and initiatives that promote employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS data, and other confidential HR documentation in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, employment standards, and workplace practices.
- Support positive labour relations by assisting with the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, grievance processes, and collective bargaining preparation.
- Coordinate and support employee training, organizational development, performance management, employee recognition, and retention initiatives.
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation to support compliance, operational needs, and strategic decision-making.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects that enhance HR services and support business objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- University degree combined with 1 to 5 years’ Human Resources experience is preferred; however, recent graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
- CHRP designation (or equivalent), in progress or willingness to obtain, is considered an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with experience using HRIS platforms; intermediate Excel proficiency is required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Experience in a Unionized manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
