Position: Executive Director/Supervisor
Reports to: Board of Directors
Blacksmith Childcare Centre is a non-profit, licensed, school based childcare centre providing quality care for the families with toddlers to school age children.
We are looking for an Executive Director/Supervisor to assume operations of the Centre for a 6-month Contract.
In collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director/ Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre, ensuring compliance with all government regulations, managing of human and financial resources and liaising with local community partners.
Required Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
Be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
5 years’ experience working in a licensed Early Childhood setting.
Supervisory and administration experience is an asset.
Valid Standard First and Infant and Child CPR (Level C)
Up to date Vulnerable Sector Reference check
Up to date medical and immunization records
Preferably working with a voluntary Board of Directors
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook)
****Supervisory Experience in a childcare setting is a MUST****

Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage and make decisions on the day-to-day operations for the organization
· Create a child friendly, engaged and learning environment that protects and respects the rights of all
· Recruits, hires, supervises, and develops competent, knowledgeable, and responsive employees
· Conduct staff meetings, communicate new policies and procedures to the employees, providing training and continuum professional development
· Participate in training and professional networking activities to enhance administrative and programming skills
· Ensure implementation of the Centre’s Program Statement
· Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs, to maintain and improve quality
· Ensure classrooms, equipment, and outside play areas are safe and in good condition
· Ensures the programs provided keep up with the emerging trends and best practices of Early Childhood Development
· Maintain enrollment, waitlist, orientation, registration, and contact information for all childcare inquires
· Works in collaboration with employees, relevant licensing personnel, consultants from various governing parties and community agencies to accomplish the objectives of the organization as required
· Ensures the child care complies with all Provincial legal requirements (Child Care and Early Years Act, Employment Standard Act, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Bill 132 (Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan Act)
· Review and update as required: Centre’s policies and procedures, parent handbook, employment manual, staffing contracts etc.
· Consult with other agencies and resources, for early intervention services, in order to assess the individual child’s development, in addition, support the family through referrals as required
· Attends Board meetings and provides a report on the operations of the organization
· Prepare the agenda, financial statements and school board permits (if required) for board and staff meetings
· Assist and advise the Board on compliance requirements and operating the organization
· Conducts official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with the Board when appropriate
· Ensure timely payments of all accounts payable, ex: Receiver General, WSIB, Insurance
· Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepare bi-weekly payroll, ensure operating expenditures remain within the Centre’s annual budget guidelines, assist in preparing the annual audit and any City grant applications and reconciliation forms
· Available to work some evenings in order to attend Board meetings or training

Salary
The salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and be determined when the job offer is extended.
