Medical Office AssistantExpress Medical Care
Join a team where patients are people—not just names on a chart.
Express Medical Care is looking for an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Medical Office Assistant to join our growing team.
We’re looking for someone who is confident, independent, organized, and genuinely enjoys helping people. Our clinic is busy and fast-paced, so you’ll need to be comfortable multitasking and staying organized—but just as importantly, you’ll understand when to slow down, make eye contact, listen, and give each patient the personal attention they deserve.
If you take pride in creating a welcoming patient experience, enjoy being part of a collaborative team, and can keep things moving without losing the human touch, we’d love to meet you!
What You'll Do
As a Medical Office Assistant, you’ll play an important role in keeping our clinic running smoothly and ensuring every patient has a positive experience.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Welcome patients with a warm, professional, and positive attitude.
- Register new patients and efficiently check patients in and out, including validating health cards.
- Schedule, coordinate, and confirm appointments, tests, referrals, and procedures.
- Respond to patient inquiries by phone, email, and in person with professionalism and empathy.
- Manage and document telephone, email, and other patient messages.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information in ACCURO, including demographics, clinical notes, and test results.
- Sort, file, and manage correspondence and other clinical documentation.
- Process billing for procedures and services not covered by provincial health insurance.
- Keep exam rooms clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Monitor clinic supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
- Work closely with physicians and other administrative team members to support an efficient clinic flow.
- Assist with other administrative duties and clinic initiatives as required.
- Occasionally provide coverage at an affiliated clinic.
What We're Looking For
You are someone who is professional, personable, dependable, and detail-oriented. You can work independently, take initiative, and stay calm and organized when the clinic gets busy.
Ideally, you bring:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Office Assistant or in a similar medical administrative role.
- A College-accredited Medical Office Administration or Medical Secretary program and/or equivalent experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to patient service.
- Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A professional work ethic and excellent attendance.
- The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with ACCURO/SWIM is an asset.
Why Join Express Medical Care?
At Express Medical Care, the patient experience matters. We believe great healthcare starts with great people—and that every interaction can make a difference.
You’ll be joining a team that values professionalism, teamwork, compassion, and doing things the right way. If you’re looking for a role where your organizational skills and personality both make an impact, this could be the opportunity for you.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
