Looking for on call/casual staff to join our team providing Community Inclusion services in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, BC. We provide individual and group support to people with diverse abilities. This is M-F program. No evening or weekend work available.
Many of the individuals we support require a support staff to help them navigate safely throughout their day. Interested parties must be PHYSICALLY ABLE to support this need. There is personal care involved and support for feeding/g-tube.

Shift Schedule: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm (depending on the shift)

Nature of position: Staff will support adults aged 19+ by providing individualized opportunities to strengthen life skills, build healthy relationships within the community, and pursue meaningful employment and personal goals. The role focuses on creating a welcoming, warm, and inclusive environment at Satori, where individuals feel respected, supported, and valued.
Staff will assist individuals to participate in activities of their choice, which may include NIC programs, recreation center activities, swimming, employment, social outings, and other community‑based experiences. In addition to skill development and community inclusion, staff are required to provide an appropriate level of personal care with compassion, dignity, and respect, based on individual needs.
The successful candidate will:
· Provide opportunities for growth and development by adapting to the environment in ways that assist everyone to live well.
· Maintain relationships of trust, security and unconditional support and implement behavior programming focused on teaching effective skills to participants that promotes greater personal autonomy and richer life options.
· Understand that everyone communicates differently and is committed to using an augmentative communication approach to support participants in their self-expression. This includes supporting and developing the use of sign language, gesture, Pic-Symbol boards when required or requested.
· Ensure community inclusion is a focus of each participant’s day.
· Respond with respectful and skilled personal care to the specific health needs of each participant. Health issues are not barriers to community involvement or Employment.
· Ensure that participants enjoy the opportunities provided by an Employment First Focus and that a discovery process is initiated and followed.
Required Qualification:
Vehicle in good condition, Class 5 DL (no N or L) ,clear drivers abstract, copy of driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance.

Clear Criminal Record Search
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
TB test
Seizure training, CLBC Privacy training.
Proof of ability to work in Canada
Education, Training and Experience:
A minimum of one-year proven experience supporting adults who have a developmental disability. Preferred experience/education in the field of supporting individuals’ disabilities.
Continuing Care, Long Term Care or Community Support Worker Certificate or Diploma
Job Skills/Abilities:
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Proven ability to use personal computer and appropriate software effectively to complete the positions work on time. This includes, (at a minimum), file management, e-mail, internet search & word processing skills
-Ethical interpersonal behaviors and problem-solving skills
-Knowledge of theory, principles and practice of the community living sector
-Demonstrated ability to recognize emerging health issues and respond appropriately
-Demonstrated high quality skills in supporting community inclusion
-Proven ability to assist in health care routines
-Demonstrated ability to involve participants in work, recreation and other community activities.
-Good organization, & time management skills
-Ability to participate as a member of a team
