Field Procurement Agent / Order Picker & Packer

About the Job
Northern Shopper is looking for a reliable person to help us shop for, pick, and pack customer orders.
This job has two main parts:
1. Shopping and Pickups: You will drive to grocery stores, wholesalers, and other suppliers in Ottawa. You will shop for the products on our customer orders and bring them back to our warehouse.
2. Picking and Packing: At the warehouse, you will help pick, check, and pack customer orders for shipping to Northern Canada.
You will work both independently and as part of our warehouse team.
Main Duties
- Drive to stores and suppliers in Ottawa to shop for customer orders.
- Find the correct products, brands, sizes, and quantities.
- Check fresh food for good quality.
- Check expiry dates and make sure products are not damaged.
- Tell the team when a product is unavailable or there is a problem with an order.
- Check your order before leaving the store.
- Bring purchased products safely back to the warehouse.
- Keep frozen and refrigerated food at the correct temperature.
- Give purchased products and receipts to the correct team at the warehouse.
- Pick products from warehouse inventory.
- Check customer orders for accuracy.
- Pack boxes carefully and securely for shipping.
- Prepare shipping labels and Air Waybills when required.
- Enter shipment information into our computer systems.
- Take photos or upload copies of receipts into our accounting system.
- Keep the work area and company vehicle clean and organized.
- Follow company safety and Transport Canada security rules.
- Complete required company and Transport Canada training.
- Help the warehouse and other departments when needed.
What We Are Looking For
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence.
- Clean driving record.
- Comfortable driving around Ottawa.
- Heavy, regular lifting (Up to 50lb x 100 times per day or more)
- Reliable and on time for work.
- Good attention to detail.
- Able to follow written shopping lists and instructions.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to work quickly without losing accuracy.
- Comfortable using a smartphone and basic computer programs.
- Able to communicate with coworkers and customers by phone, email, and text.
- Able to lift and carry boxes and groceries during the workday.
- Comfortable working around refrigerated and frozen products.
- Able to manage several orders and tasks during the same shift.
- Willing to complete required Transport Canada security training.
Previous experience in grocery stores, shopping, delivery, warehouses, order picking, food distribution, or similar work is helpful, but not required.

Northern Shopper ships groceries, foodservice products, and other goods from Ottawa to customers and communities across Northern Canada. This position helps move an order from the store or supplier, through our warehouse, and on to the customer.
Pay: $17.60-$23.93 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week
