Job Overview
Hello Markham is a fast-growing local media brand reaching 2,500+ newsletter subscribers and 5,000+ Instagram followers across Markham. We're looking for a creative, camera-comfortable Marketing Intern to produce short-form video content and help grow our advertiser base. You'll work from an established, proven content system not starting from scratch and every sponsor you bring on board earns you a cut of the deal.
Responsibilities
- Film and edit short-form Reels following our tested content formats: ranked "best of" lists, hidden-gem features, new-business openings, nostalgia/identity reels, and weekend roundups
- Write on-screen text hooks, keyword-rich captions, and CTAs designed to convert viewers into newsletter subscribers
- Build carousels and stories that support each week's content push
- Keep a consistent posting rhythm (3-4 Reels/week + 2 carousels/week)
- Identify and pitch local Markham businesses for featured content and paid partnerships
- Help run our monthly giveaway program with partner businesses
- Respond to inbound DMs from businesses wanting to be featured
- Earn a split of the advertising fee for every sponsor you personally bring to the newsletter or Instagram
Requirements
- Strong sense of short-form video storytelling
- Comfortable filming, editing, and posting (CapCut, Reels editor, or similar)
- Confident reaching out to local businesses and pitching partnerships
- Self-starter who can own a content calendar with minimal oversight
- Bonus: experience running or growing a social media account, newsletter, or local content page
Pay: $18.15-$29.17 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week
