Job Description
Timmerman Timberworks is a leader in the Canadian mass timber industry and specializes in design, supply and installation of heavy timber, glulam and structural wood elements. Established for over 25 years, our team continues to find niches in wood design bringing the most innovative design/builds in the industry.
Our shop is currently looking for an experienced Carpenter who has wide range of talents and is looking for a new opportunity in the industry. Note: Intermittent travel is required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of carpentry and of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and requirements
- The ability to prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- The ability to measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adherence to Timmerman Timberworks Health & Safety processes and procedures
- Hand cut timbers according to layout/blueprints
- Move/load timbers with forklift and other heavy equipment
- Test-fit timbers together prior to construction, when applicable
- Sand, stain and finish according to plans
- Operate and maintain power tools and chisels
- Keep shop clean and free of obstacles
- Site and work preparation, as required
- Put up scaffolding
- Work with crew to join structure together
- Hoisting and rigging
- Use of appropriate PPE
Job Skills and Qualifications:
- The ability to work in cramped areas or at considerable heights
- The ability to work outside at various times of the year and experience a considerable range of environmental conditions
- The ability to use math skills in this trade
- The stamina to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Good physical condition to carry materials; 50lbs
- The ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- The ability to read building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
- The able to travel to different work locations
- Sound work ethics and a positive work attitude
- Strong organizational skills including attention to detail

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
