Join a Growing Custom Drapery & Upholstery Business
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress / Sewing Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys creating custom products, and has experience working with a variety of fabrics and sewing equipment.
You will work in a dedicated fabrication space producing custom drapery, blackout curtains, cushions, soft furnishings, and light upholstery projects for residential and commercial clients throughout Nova Scotia.
What You'll Do
Sewing & Fabrication
- Sew custom drapery, blackout curtains, and window treatments.
- Construct cushions, pillows, and other custom fabric products.
- Perform alterations, repairs, and modifications as required.
- Measure, cut, pin, and assemble fabric accurately.
- Follow project specifications, measurements, and client requirements.
- Ensure all finished products meet quality standards.
Upholstery Support
- Assist with light upholstery and soft furnishing projects.
- Support custom residential and commercial fabrication work.
- Collaborate with the team to bring client design concepts to life.
Quality & Organization
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
- Assist with material preparation and inventory organization.
- Help meet project deadlines while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Previous sewing experience in a professional or home-based setting.
- Experience using industrial or domestic sewing machines.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with custom drapery fabrication.
- Upholstery experience.
- Alterations or tailoring experience.
- Interior decorating, fashion, or textile experience.
- Experience reading measurements and project specifications.
