Education:
- High school completion with job related options is required
- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institution
- Must possess and maintain in good standing a Food Handler's Certificate.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year - considerable practical or position related experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to communicate and follow instructions in English (verbal and written) and demonstrate effective verbal and written skills.
- Must model a clean and tidy appearance in accordance to dress code at all times and follow all health codes concerning hair and dress. Must wear assigned uniform and any PPE required for task.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve food safety concerns is essential.
- Must have solid knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Must maintain a clean sanitized workstation(s) (component) at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to make accurate and quick mathematical calculations is required.
- Must provide a positive and engaging Customer Service Experience for every customer
Physical Requirements:
- Standing 100% of the time is required.
- Some heavy lifting – up to and including 20kg (lift and carry without strain) is required.
- Repetitive actions and work will include, cash handling, reaching, slicing, chopping and spreading is required.
- Pushing and pulling food carts or wagons is required.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties as assigned.
- Must be able to pass required FIT assessment and related safety training.
Other:
- Regular attendance and punctuality required.
- Will be required to provide acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Registry checks.
- Communicates daily with the Lead or Management Team, and reports operational concerns in a timely manner.
- Provides "on the job training" to staff.
- Requisitions and receives food and supplies from storeroom. Ensures proper product rotation at all times and adequate food and related supplies and goods are stocked in sufficient supply to meet menu requirements.
- Practices, records and ensures safe food handling including proper service, storage and temperature controls.
- Maintains a well-organized area of service, including server, seating and common areas, ensuring they are clean and sanitized in accordance to all health and safety regulations. Cleans and maintains equipment of serve wear, cooking utensils, mats and floors when required. Observes safety precautions at all times.
- Provides courteous customer services to all patrons in accordance with Management Customer Service Standards. May deliver or serve in retail food or catering as required.
- Operates and receives daily cash receipts in a retail dining service outlet. Counts, records and deposits cash receipts in accordance with Dining Services cashier cash controls and cashier float counting procedures.
- May perform food preparation and production duties as required; including combining basic ingredients.
- Assists with Catering function room setups as assigned.
- Actively participates in marketing initiatives of the component; may set up displays.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
