Farm Drainage Working Foreman
- Lead and direct daily work activities of the crew on site
- Assign tasks and ensure work is done correctly and efficiently
- Train and mentor new or less experienced workers
- Act as the main point of contact between workers and management
- Perform regular duties alongside the crew
- Operate heavy equipment including tile drainage plows, excavators, skidsteers, tractors, front end loaders, trucks and trailers
- Install and repair farm tile drainage systems using the above equipment
- Check heavy equipment using approved circle check procedures before operation to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Refrain from using drugs and or alcohol or prescribed medications causing drowsiness prior to reporting for work or decline work based on these conditions.
- Cellular phones and other sources of distraction are always prohibited while operating heavy equipment.
- Diagnose / identify defects in heavy duty equipment and report as required.
- Minor repairs or maintenance of equipment as per company policies.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and operation techniques.
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations.
- Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Report equipment defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the equipment.
- Check all documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Operate equipment such as computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other operators.
- Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
- Assist in loading and unloading of equipment.
- Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.
- Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
- Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.
Requirements
· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
· 2 years' experience as an Equipment Operator
· 2 years experience as a working foreman leading and directing crew
· Knowledge of operation of heavy equipment including tile drainage plows, excavators, skidsteers, tractors, front end loaders, trucks and trailers
· Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.
· Knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques.
· Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
· Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
· Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
· High level of personal integrity.
· Strong work ethic.
· Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

· Possess a valid driver's license.

Work Conditions
· Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
· Travel to off-site locations will be required.
· Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, hi-vis clothing, etc.
· Hazards associated with the trade.
· Work both indoors and outdoors in any weather

- Class A, B, or C tile drainage machine operator’s license or willing to obtain (preferred)
