Summary
We are seeking a Jr Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in supporting the design and development of control systems that meet our clients' needs while aligning with our company's mission of innovation and reliability.
As a Jr Mechanical Designer, you will not be stuck doing abstract classroom work. You will contribute to real products, support real manufacturing teams, and learn how mechanical design, controls, production, quality, and customer requirements come together.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and update 2D drawings, 3D models, detail drawings, bills of material sub-assemblies and assembly drawings using Creo 3D CAD modeling software.
- Support the design of control panel enclosures, layouts, brackets, mounting hardware, component arrangements, and related mechanical features
- Building and testing prototypes for new products.
- Prepare sketches, drawings, layouts, and technical documentation to support engineering and production needs.
- Provide Engineering support for production. Assist with cost reduction, product and production improvements.
- Ensure drawings follow company standards, drafting practices, and document control procedures
- Maintain and organize drawing files, revision history, ECO records, and related engineering documentation.
Product Development and Improvement:
- Support the development of new control panel products and modifications to existing products
- Assist with prototype builds, fit checks, testing, and design validation activities.
- Work with engineering and production teams to identify design improvements that support manufacturability, quality, cost reduction, and assembly efficiency.
- Help evaluate mechanical components, enclosure options, hardware, and purchased parts for performance, fit, cost, and availability.
- Support continuous improvement projects related to design standards, production processes, and documentation quality.
- Research and recommend cost-effective materials and components to support panel designs.
Manufacturing and Cross-Functional Support:
- Collaborate with production, applications, purchasing, customer service, marketing, and engineering team members to support project success.
- Assist production teams by answering drawing questions, clarifying design intent, and helping resolve build issues.
- Support the creation and maintenance of bills of material, assembly instructions, test documentation, and technical reference materials.
- Participate in design reviews, prototype reviews, and production feedback discussions.
- Help ensure designs are safe, practical, manufacturable, and aligned with customer and application needs.
Testing, Standards, and Technical Learning:
- Assist with product testing, prototype evaluation, and documentation of test results.
- Support agency approval and certification activities as directed.
- Learn and apply relevant industry standards, company quality procedures, and control panel design practices.
- Continue developing skills in areas such as:
- Mechanical design
- Control panel layouts and enclosures
- Design for manufacturing and assembly
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Sheet metal and fabricated parts
- Component selection and mounting
- Product testing and documentation
- Quality, safety, and compliance requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
- Diploma, certificate, or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Technology, or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software
- Exposure to 3D modeling software. PTC Creo experience an asset
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
